We are one day closer to Christmas! Today's ornament spotlight showcases an adorable little Santa that brings me joy every time I glance his way. He is located front and center on my tree as he encompasses the peaceful, cozy vibe I would like my tree emanate. Is it just me, or does it appear that his cute little beard it flowing in the wind? And those wooden legs. Doesn't get much cuter than that. But its his sweater and hollyberries on his hat that takes him to the next level of cuteness. #adorbs What about you? What ornament is front and center on your tree?
Today's ornament spotlight is a hoot (pun intended)! I have so many ornaments that I will not get a chance to showcase, so when I decided it was time to spotlight one of the most popular animals displayed on just about anything and everything these days, I could not choose just one! What is it about owls that make them so wildly popular? Is it because they are wise? Is it because they are beautiful creatures? My first exposure to owls was while watching Winnie the Pooh. If I recall correctly, his name was just Owl. He didn't need a catchy name like Tigger or Winnie because everyone loved him anyway for his wisdom. Does anyone else find it a little freaky that they can turn their heads around a full 360 degrees? Its freaky, but I wish I could do it. Which is your favorite from my owl collection? I have a sweet affection for the furry gray one. But they all hold a special place in my heart.
Good tidings fellow ornament enthusiasts! Can you believe it is already the 17th day of December? This month is flying by, and Christmas will be here before you know it. Are you ready for it?
Today's ornament spotlight showcases an elegant wooden Santa that I picked up at Hobby Lobby a few years ago. He is a regal fellow, gracing the tree with a special sophisticated charm.
We baked Christmas cookies today, a simple sugar cookie recipe. But they turned out delicious! I'll try and post pics of them soon. What is your favorite Christmas cookie?
Greetings! Ornament spotlight day 16 showcases the it animal of the moment. For a while owls were the it animal of the moment, and they are still extremely popular, but is it just me or are foxes all the rage now? I see them on mugs, shirts, paintings, and even Christmas ornaments! I spotted this little couple at Cracker Barrel, and I knew I had to have them the moment I saw them. Aren't they the cutest? His plaid tie and her wool scarf is almost too adorable. I think they make a sweet couple. How long do you think they have been married? Do they have nicknames for each other? Is it weird that I think about these things???
Ornament spotlight day 14 showcases a beautiful sparkling apple ornament. I tend to have quite a bit of that classic Christmas red color peppering my tree, so I thought this apple ornament would be a nice addition. This ornament makes me want a big slice of warm apple pie with vanilla ice cream on top. Mmmmmm. I must be hungry.
It's ornament spotlight day thirteen! Today I chose to showcase an adorable snow bunny that I picked up a few years ago. Like the snowflake I chose for spotlight day 12, this little guy brightens up my tree with not only sparkly glitter, but also a charming face and chubby tail! I still can't figure out if it is a boy or girl though. Handsome or Pretty? I can't tell. Either way, he/she adds a little something special to my tree. What do you think? Team staches or team lashes?
Greetings! Today's ornament spotlight showcases a beautiful, glittery snowflake I picked up from Kohl's a few years ago. This ornament is a bit fancier than my cozy woodland creature collection or my cute Santa collection, but I think it brightens things up on my tree. It truly is a beautiful ornament when the tree lights hit it at certain angles, making the glitter pop like a real snowflake. Speaking of snowflakes, have you ever heard that no two snowflakes are alike? That is so amazing to me. Think about the billions of snowflakes that fall each year. Also, a two dimensional snowflake has natural symmetry. I appreciate this fun fact as I am a former Geometry teacher. I know, I'm a nerd! But when I look at this snowflake ornament, I desperately want a white Christmas. We do not get those often here in Tennessee. Most of our big snows come after the new year. What about you? Do you like the snow, or could you do without it? #letitsnow
Ornament spotlight day 11 showcases a simple but elegant ornament that brings a strong message for the holiday season. In a world that can at times seem hopeless in peace, joy, and love, this ornament reminds us that it does still exist. I purchased this ornament a few years ago at Kohls, and I look forward to adorning my tree with it every year.
Romans 12:12 Rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation, be constant in prayer.
Hello everyone! Today's ornament spotlight is a little work of art. I began a new tradition this year after I discovered Soffieria de Carlini on the Neiman Marcus website while searching for my annual Swarovski ornament. Soffieria de Carlini are mouth blown, hand painted glass ornaments made in Italy. These ornaments are unique and appreciate over time as they are keepsakes. When I came across them on the website, I immediately fell in love with their charm, each lady having a personality of her own. If you have daughters, this tradition will be especially fun, as you and your little one can choose an ornament to add to your collection each Christmas. These ornaments retail for $68.00 on www.neimanmarcus.com.
Hello again! You may have noticed that my spotlight on ornament nine is a day late. My apologies. This weekend has been rather busy. My church had their annual Pancakes with Santa breakfast which was so much fun. My family and I also managed to visit Gaylord Opryland to see the lights and decorations. The traffic was crazy, and the crowds were crazier, but I have to admit, it was totally worth it. Opryland has gotten new lights since my last visit, and it was gorgeous. If you have never been to see the Christmas decor at Opryland and you are driving distance to the Nashville area, you must go at least once! I'll post some pics below after the blog.
Today's ornament isn't really an ornament at all! It's a magical elf that watches over my nine year daughter to make sure she behaves extra nice during the month of December. And although she is not technically an ornament, we often find her on our tree involved in some sort of humorous shenanigan. As you can see from the pics above, she decided to hang upside down from the bottom of our tree. Doesn't the blood rush to her head??? She is a spry little thing. Our elf, Gumdrop Lollipop, arrives every year on Thanksgiving to get settled before December hits. She usually leaves on New Year's Eve, waiting a week after Christmas Day just to make sure none of the gifts from Santa were defective. How about you? Does your family have an Elf on the Shelf? What is your elf's name and when does he/she arrive?
